Here’s a link to the short film “Wake” on the CBC website. I wrote the music for it. It was directed by Jeremy Webb and written by Jessica Marsh. Great experience! Can’t wait for the next call for something like this.

Just found out that my song “Save Me” from Art Of Conversation has made it to the semi-finals of the International Songwriting Contest! Very exciting. It was a few years ago that “Foolin’ You” from my first disc managed to get this far. Who knows what next year will bring with the new album? I should also mention that good friends Kev Corbett and Kim Wempe also have tunes in the semi-finals, so a big congrats to them. If you don’t know their stuff, check em’ out!
Also, here’s a link to Coco Love Alcorn’s new video. Can you spot me?

Final day of bed tracks is here. The sounds that Adam Warner and Mark MacIntyre have been coming up with are fantastic. I can’t wait to start playing some guitar and singing to what they’ve done!
I have a couple of shows in Southern Ontario in the next month and there have been a few changes to the dates. Oakville, Oshawa and Tamworth are all on the list and Coco Love Alcorn is going to join me on a couple of them!! Very exciting. Always great to do shows with that crazy kid. Come check them out. Check the shows page for details.
Good day new month!
I leave for Toronto tomorrow to start work on the new album. I’ll be hanging in the Big Smoke for six weeks. If you’re around drop me a line.
Just finished the music for “Wake” an independent film shot here in Halifax. I saw a quick preview over the weekend and it looks fantastic. Congrats to Jeremy Webb (director) and Jessica Marsh (writer).
My next shows are in Ontario. Check out the show’s page for dates or get in touch with me about a house concert!
Don’t forget about the show tonight at the Chester Playhouse in Chester NS! Dave Carroll and I are doing a set to end the night off. 7:30PM start. Pay what you can. All proceeds will be matched by the Canadian Government.
See you there!
Here are a couple of things to consider:
Tomorrow night (Wednesday, Jan 20th) I’m taking part in a fundraiser for Christine Crawford at the Carleton in Halifax. Christine is a fellow musician in the HRM and is battling cancer. “Everything in the Stars” - A tribute to the Art & Music of Christine Crawford is THIS Wednesday night at the Carleton - Steven Bowers, Kev Corbett, Norma McDonald, Ian Sherwood, Mike Trask , Andrew Hunter & Irish Mythen ! Call 902.422.6335 for Tixs. Art viewing 6pm, Music at 8pm - See you there!
Also, I’ll be performing with Dave Carroll at the Chester Playhouse this Saturday (Jan 23rd) to help raise money for the Haiti relief. Every penny we raise will be matched by the Canadian Government so come down and help out if you can. I’ll be a great night.
Happy New Year everyone! Here comes an exciting year for sure. I can feel it right down to my heavily insulated toes!
Just booked a Halifax gig at Stayner’s Wharf with none other than the amazing Hupman Brothers. You will not want to miss this. We’re doing a few shows together when I get back from recording the new album in March and this is a warm-up. It’s been a while since my last Halifax show and there won’t be another one until the release in June so if you’re in the area stop in for a pint and a tune!
I just posted a free download on the music page. “Sad Goat” is a demo I recorded up in Dawson City YT a few years ago. I’ve been offering it up to those who sign the mailing list but, in the spirit of Christmas, decided to give it to all who want it. Hope you enjoy!
Welcome to the new Iansherwood.com! So glad you could stop by. Please take a moment to sign our guest list. I’m busy getting ready for the new album (coming out in Spring 2010!). Working with producer and fellow singer/songwriter Rob Szabo, we’ll hit the studio in February. This, along with a list of side projects including writing for the short film “Wake” and a number of theatre shows, is keeping things very busy these days. Come back often to hear all about them (or just drop us a line and we’ll glad let you in on the details).
I’ll be touring Canada, New England and the UK in 2010. Stay tuned for a full list of dates!
